Angdle privacy
Last updated October 9, 2026
Angdle is a free daily game. It is built to need as little about you as possible, and you can play all of it without an account. Here is everything it stores, where, and how to remove it.
On your device
Your guesses, your streaks, your statistics and which mode you were last in are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device — not even when you sign in. Clearing your browser's data for angdle.com removes them, and they do not follow you to another device.
| Key | Holds |
|---|---|
angdle.game | today's Daily round |
angdle.stats | played, wins, streak, guess distribution |
angdle.sweep.game / .sweep.stats | the same for Sweep |
angdle.mode, angdle.seen | your last mode; whether you have seen the how-to |
angdle.played | the day this browser was last counted (below) |
angdle.cid, angdle.fin.* | a random id and which rounds it has been counted for (below) |
angdle.signedIn, angdle.sentResults, angdle.friendCount | only if you sign in |
Counting players
The first time you play on a given day, the page requests a file called
/played with today's date. It carries no cookie, no identifier and nothing
about your game — not your guesses, not whether you won. Cloudflare, which hosts
the site, logs that request like any other page load, and the daily total is used to
count how many people played rather than how many opened the page. It happens once per
browser per day however much you play.
Counting finished rounds
When you finish a Daily or a Sweep, the game records that a round was finished: the puzzle number, which mode, and a random id this browser keeps in local storage. That id exists only so reloading the page can’t count you twice; it is never linked to an account, and it isn’t tied to your name or email even if you are signed in.
Nothing about how you did is sent — not your score, not your guesses, not whether you won. Finishing the same mode again on the same day does not add anything. You can clear it by clearing this site’s data, which gives your browser a new random id.
Signing in with Google (optional)
You can play everything without an account. If you choose to sign in, we receive your Google account ID, email address and first name from Google, and store them. A cookie keeps you signed in on that device for up to a year, or until you sign out.
Signing in does not change what the two counts above record, and neither of them is linked to your account.
Signing in does not back up your game. Your stats and streaks stay in this browser either way. An account exists so you can compare results with friends, and nothing else.
While you are signed out, the page loads Google's sign-in script to draw the Sign in with Google button, so Google sees that request the way any site it serves a file to does. It is not loaded while you are signed in, and it is not loaded at all unless you open the friends panel. We never receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account, and we do not use your email to contact you.
Deleting your account: open the friends panel, then Friends & account, then Delete account. That removes your account, your saved results, your friendships and every sign-in on our server straight away. Your device keeps its own local copy of your stats until you clear it.
Friends (optional)
Signed-in players get an 8-character friend code. Anyone you give it to, or who opens your invite link, can add you, and friendships go both ways.
While you are signed in, each Daily or Sweep round you finish is saved with your account: the puzzle number, the mode, how you did (guesses used, or how many degrees off you were), and one colour per guess — the same squares the share text uses. Your actual guesses are never sent. The first result for a day stands, so a second device cannot overwrite it.
Friends see those results and the name you choose (your Google first name unless you change it). They never see your email address, and the game identifies them to each other by an opaque key rather than by account.
You can remove a friend at any time, which stops you both seeing each other, and you can generate a new code so the old one stops working. Deleting your account removes your results and every friendship.
Other services
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database, and sees requests as any host does.
- Google serves the sign-in script and verifies sign-ins, if you use one.
- The Bottle Beacon banner is a plain link. It runs no tracking script. If you click it, their site sees that you came from Angdle.
What we don't do
No ad tracking, no third-party analytics scripts, no fonts or scripts fetched from anyone else, and no selling or sharing of your data.
